Keeping in mind words in today’s first reading, from the prophet Isaiah, about good news for the poor, healing for the broken-hearted and captives being set free, let us pray for the people of Zimbabwe as they face even more hardship, this time from an outbreak of cholera in their country . . . (pause)

As we continue our Advent journey, and at the same time Muslim people are also undertaking the Haj, or pilgrimage to Mecca, we pray that people of different faiths in our world will keep trying to build trust, understanding and respect for each other. May we find ways to peace. . . . (pause)

Next Thursday will be International Migrants’ Day, and also celebrates more than a century since the first women in the world were given the right to vote, in South Australia.
So let us hold in prayer those who are making a new life for themselves in our country, and also women who still struggle to be recognised as equal to men in their communities . . . (pause)

In the coming holiday season, as many of us spend time travelling – to visit family or friends – going to the beach, camping or touring, we pray for a new sense of responsibility for and care of natural habitats where we will stay or through which we will pass . . . (pause)
