Let us pray that leaders in communities in our country and in other parts of the world will guide us on ways to peace and justice, and help us make our world safe for children and young people, and give hope to those struggling with social or economic disadvantage . . . (pause)

Last Thursday was the feast of St Francis Xavier, one of the patron saints of Australia, and of our church community at Lavender Bay, honoured for his efforts as a missionary. We pray for an enthusiasm like his, to prompt us to reach out and welcome others as friends and co-workers . . . (pause)

As we give thanks for people in groups who are placing our care for the environment under closer scrutiny, where we live and work, let us also pray for people responsible for implementing strategies like water-recycling, to cope with current drought-related challenges in western New South Wales
