General Intercessions

Following Recycling Week, we also anticipate the coming of the Christmas season, with its emphasis on gift-giving and various ways of celebrating            . . .  (pause)

So let us pray for the good sense to be like the stewards in today’s Gospel, and care for the environment by how we use energy sources and manage waste-disposal           . . .  (pause)

Lord, hear us,

All: Lord, hear our prayer

Next Thursday, Universal Children’s Day, also celebrates the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and a later Convention examining how to protect these rights. We pray that children everywhere will remain free and safe, and also for people who act to ensure this happens

 . . . (pause)

Lord , hear us,

All:  Lord, hear our prayer

We pray for religious and civic leaders in our world, that they will help those they represent to make choices which will improve how they live and work together, and to welcome people whose customs and beliefs differ from their own    . . . (pause)

Lord, hear us,

All:  Lord, hear our prayer

As we hold in our hearts loved ones who have died, let us also pray for those mourning family members or friends with whom they missed becoming reconciled before they died. May they find peace

Lord, hear us,

All: Lord, hear our prayer
