Today’s second reading stressed that Jesus, human like us, suffered the same way we do: physical pain, sadness, being misunderstood and even rejected . . . (pause)
So, as his followers, let us pray for the strength to be with people who are sick, separated from loved ones, or are unemployed and facing other challenges in the current economic crisis . . .(pause)
Lord, hear us
All: Lord, hear our prayer
Let us pray, too, that community leaders in our world – including those about to meet at the NATO Summit in Strasbourg – will act responsibly to foster justice and peace for all people . . . (pause)

Following the recent death of an Australian soldier trying to defuse a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, let us pray for people in parts of our world who are engaged in clearing landmines to make environments safe for those whose lives are still at risk in former war-zones . . . (pause)

With grateful hearts, we ask Jesus to bless those in our parish communities who will help animate liturgies for Holy Week and Easter: priests, pastoral associates, and many others . . . (pause)
