As we celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus, and remember – not just the events leading to his death – but also the impact his living as one of us had on his friends, we pray that how we live with and for others in our everyday lives will help keep his love alive in our world . . . (pause)

As we begin Refugee Week, we pray for people from places like Somalia, who have left behind home and family to escape violence and civil strife in their countries, and also for those who will welcome and support them – first in countries close to theirs – and then where they can settle permanently . . . (pause)

Let us pray community leaders – in our own and countries such as Papua New Guinea – will act to ensure that logging and other commercial activities in the natural environment will be carried out responsibly, to ensure that forests and wetlands survive and thrive . . . (pause)

Aware of the grief of family, friends, patients and co-workers of Dr Chris O’Brien, who died recently, we pray for them, and for others mourning the loss of loved ones, and give thanks for the continuing work of health care professionals in the community . . . (pause)
