General Intercessions
As each of us claims for ourself today’s Gospel description of Jesus as a loved child of God, let us pray that we will act to make that love a living reality, by working together for peace and understanding with others . . . (pause)

Next Tuesday we remember the birth of Martin Luther King eighty years ago, and honour his work for civil rights for African-American people. We pray, too, for those who will work on the committee recently established by the Federal Government to examine human rights issues here in our own country

As we pray for people in parts of Queensland and in the Northern Territory whose lives right now are being impacted by the mixed blessing of flooding rain after years of drought, we also pray for those who have lost people dear to them in recent days, in Australia, and in war zones of our world

Let us pause, and hold in prayer people in our local communities who are examining ways to help us begin to live more responsibly in the environment . . . (pause)
