Today, we find new heart in being reminded that Jesus, whose birth we celebrate, came to be Emmanuel – God-with-us . . . (pause)
So, we pray for strength to keep showing God’s love to people with whom we live and work, or who will challenge our beliefs and values in coming days . . . (pause)

At a time precious to many of us, because of time we can spend with family and others special to us, let us also pray that people in parts of our world who are mourning the loss of loved ones – because of war or social or religious strife – will find healing and peace . . . (pause)

We pray for community leaders at all levels of government who are involved in sponsoring programmes to encourage us to use water and energy sources in more environmentally-responsible ways in both domestic and public sector settings in this, our sunburnt country . . . (pause)
