As we find new heart in remembering the child whose birth we celebrate, Emmanuel - God-with-us - we pray for the strength to bring God's love to people with whom we live and work, and to challenge them to reach out to others who need our help . . . (pause)

Let us pray for the first of recent Sri Lankan asylum-seekers beginning a new life as residents in our country, land also for the Afghan boys who have just been transferred from Christmas Island to detention in Melbourne, that they will soon find hope, peace and welcome amongst us . . . (pause)

As people in parts of our country devastated by bushfires and the impact of Cyclone Larry work to re-build lives and homes, let us pray for them, and for those who will support them at this time . . . (pause)

As we celebrate with family and friends, let us pray for the good sense to keep the environment clean and sustainable, and to tread gently in natural habitats we may visit during the holidays . . . (pause)
