General Intercessions
Today, the first two Scripture readings seem to point us with some urgency towards Christ’s – and his friends’ – busy life, prompting us to think about why he came into our lives . . . (pause)
So, we pray that – like Jesus – we can help bring healing and hope into the lives of sick and disadvantaged people, and also offer support to those caring for frail and elderly family members . . . (pause)
Lord, hear us,

In the coming week we remember the 1965 Freedom Ride through NSW country towns – led by Charles Perkins – to highlight injustices being experienced by aboriginal people. So we pray that we will keep working to build trust and respect among the different racial and social groups living in our country . . . (pause)

Aware of working families in our country facing an uncertain future in the current global financial crisis, and of groups offering them support, let us pray, too, for those who will try to implement decisions made at the recent World Economic Forum in Davos to help the people of Gaza re-build their homes and reclaim their lives . . . (pause)

We pray for individuals and groups where we live and work who are planning right now about how to involve the largest possible number of us in the Clean Up Australia Campaign in a few weeks time . . . (pause)
