The mention of prophets in today’s readings prompts us to focus less on predicting grand outcomes, and more on ways to challenge each other to spread God’s love as we interact in our day-to-day lives

So, we pray we can keep welcoming the many people - from different racial, social and faith groups - who make our country what it is today - including those who became citizens in recent Australia Day ceremonies . . . (pause)

Let us pray for leaders - including those just elected in Sri Lanka, after years of civil strife - and in devastated Haiti, that they will help their people build new, more secure lives, and find lasting peace . . . (pause)

We pray for insight to respect those where we live, work and play, who - like Jesus in today’s Gospel reading - challenge us to think and act in new ways, because their life experience differs radically from our own . . . ( pause )

As we anticipate World Wetlands Day next Tuesday, we pray we will keep working, both to support those promoting biodiversity and exploring ways to offset the impact of climate change, and also play our own part in living sustainably in local environments . . . (pause)
