"God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world, but so that through him the world might be saved."

John 3:14-21

Prayers of Intercession

Fourth Sunday in Lent (Year B)

St Francis Xavier's Church, Lavender Bay

Author: Sr Lynne Green

General Intercessions

Like the exiled Hebrews described in today’s first reading, we are sometimes surprised when unexpected people choose to help us . . . (pause)

So, let us pray that we will welcome and support those who need our help, as we are all part of God’s family . . . (pause)
Lord, hear us
All: Lord, hear our prayer

Let us pray that political and civic leaders in our own and other countries will recognise and act responsibly to protect the most vulnerable people in their communities, including those affected by the worsening cholera crisis in Zimbabwe . . . (pause)
Lord, hear us ,
All: Lord, hear our prayer

Today, World Water Day, let us pray for the generosity to monitor our use of water – at home and where we work – so that future generations will be able to enjoy a thriving and life-giving natural environment . . . (pause)
Lord, hear us,
All: Lord, hear our prayer

At the end of NSW Seniors Week, let us pray for older people – both those we know, who have loved and cared for us – and others, who have few, if any, to intervene on their behalf . . . (pause)
Lord, hear us
All: Lord, hear our prayer
