Like Jesus' earliest followers, we need - sometimes - to stand firmly by our commitment to him, in work he calls us to do ... (pause)
So, let us pray we will understand what this involves - where we live and work - and reach out to those who need us to support them in the coming week ... (pause)

As we anticipate the tenth anniversary of the death of Dom Helder Camara next Thursday, we pray that religious and civil leaders in our world will keep working to promote the human rights of all people . . . (pause)

Eight years after the Tampa rescued asylum - seekers off the coast of our country, let us pray for people who continue to offer help to those who are trying to build new lives here, after having to leave behind homes and families to be safe . . . (pause)

Let us pray for all who will be involved in implementing the recently agreed-on federal legislation concerning more environmentally-friendly use of energy, and its sourcing in our country . . . (pause)
