General Intercessions
In today’s Gospel reading Jesus reminds us that when we welcome those who most need our help, we are welcoming him, and the love he came to bring into our lives.
We pray that, as members of our Church, we will support all who work to support poor people, those who are homeless, and those who have lost touch with family and loved ones. (pause)
Lord, hear us,
We ask God’s blessing for Sheik El Halaly, for his efforts on behalf of Douglas Wood in Iraq, and for the people of Iran, for the election of their new President.

Lord, hear us,
Sixty years ago, unemployment benefits were introduced in this country. We pray for the long-term unemployed and their families, and for those who work to ensure that employers treat workers justly. (pause)
Lord, hear us,
We pray for all in our parish who are entrusted with welcoming others, for ourselves, and our families. May we encourage each other to reach out to those who need our care, in our community and the workplace. (pause)
